Santa Catalina, scene for previous activities and events of DISA Gran Canaria Maratón

From 23rd to 25th January, the organization has decided that all previous events before the race will  be celebrated in Plaza de Canarias, Parque Santa Catalina
 
 
With few months to go before DISA Gran Canaria Maratón, the Technical Organization is making a big effort to make all Grancanarians proud of this sporting event.
 
This will be the 5th edition, and next 26th January 2014, DISA Gran Canaria Maratón work team has a new final exam to show, as has done in previous editions, the big and fantastic human group formed.

With few months to go before DISA Gran Canaria Maratón, the Technical Organization is making a big effort to make all Grancanarians proud of this sporting event.

Sometimes a great sporting event is defined by the level of participants, or records achieved by them, but in many times the important matter is the method of organization, as all actions encompasses like social, cultural.
 
In order that everything come out well, past 7th October, the Technical Organization of DISA Gran Canaria Maratón 2014 had the first meeting, where have been decided every aspects of different areas since end of last edition.
 
The Technical Organization of DISA Gran Canaria Maratón consists in professionals of different sectors:
 
Antonio Pérez (Technical  manager of Instituto Insular de Deportes), Carlos Arteaga (Coordinator of sporting event), Alexis Guerra (assistant technical manager), Davinia Barragán (Security manager), Alejandro Cabrera (infrastructure area), Laura Luzardo (Sanitary area of IID), Solci Lorenzo (office of consejero), Claudio Betancor (technician of Instituto Municipal de Deportes), Elena Martín (technical secretary), Noelia Pérez (promotion and sponsorship) and Paul Perdomo (marketing y comunication).
 
This work team headed by Lucas Bravo de Laguna, consejero of sports in Cabildo de Gran Canaria, joining effort with voluntary workers, police, sponsors, athletes…
has about three and a half months to make DISA Gran Canaria Maratón 2014 a successful sporting event.
 
There were a lot of organization matters dealt in first meeting of our technical committee, being one of the most important decision, change of location for all alternative activities of  marathon, half marathon and 10 kms of 26th January.
 
As we have announced, start and finish points of races will be in calle Venegas, from 23rd to 25th January Plaza de Canarias in Parque Santa Catalina will be the nerve centre of DISA Gran Canaria Maratón.
 
Thus, traditional runner fairy or children race, previous activities and events before the big race will be celebrated in an emblematic place of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, because this place is  a very familiar to Grancanarians to celebrate this kind of events.
 
 
In this edition we did not chage the location because of time, but in future editions, the idea of el Cabildo is to locate all the infrastructure of DISA Gran Canaria Maratón in Plaza de Canarias, Parque Santa Catalina.
