Tourist routes

The attraction of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is in its many corners and its colourful history, which make this a lively modern city, but one that still retains its fair share of peculiarities. The best way to get around the city if you do not have all that much time is by using the tourist bus, or guagua turística. With this means of transport you can get a good general look at the main points of interest, along with some interesting explanations.

One not-to-be-missed spot is the old quarter of Vegueta. Here, the visitor steps back into the past and can almost hear the stones telling their story, a story which is told in the area's museums. The city centre is an obligatory stop for lovers of shopping and the cosmopolitan spirit of this area reflects the intermingling of cultures that so strongly characterises the city.

Night-time in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is Vegueta, Triana and the port. And, outside the city but still within the municipal limits, awaits a pleasant surprise: the rich flora and fauna that borders this large city. One of the best examples has to be the Jardín Canario, but there is lots more to see. An entire city waiting to be discovered.
