The RFEA can guarantee that the Cajasiete Gran Canaria Marathon will be added to its official calendar

The Spanish athletics federation says the race will recover its certification as soon as the outstanding amounts are paid.

The temporary business association (TBA) that puts the Cajasiete Gran Canaria Marathon together guarantees that the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) has certified it will regain its place in the official calendar as soon as the outstanding amounts are paid. The organizing team of the Gran Canaria Marathon can confirm that it will not lose its federative rights as a result of this delay, which is not due to any non-payment by the Cabildo

The amount corresponds to the license the TBA pays the Federation for each runner, which adds up to a total of 21,967 euros. The Cajasiete Gran Canaria Marathon will be able to obtain the relevant certifications from the RFEA, once this amount is paid.

The TBS`s managing director, Francisco Armas, is in touch with the RFEA and insists that this will not affect the organization of the event. One of the next steps to address with the RFEA is the approval of the new route, as there have been some changes to last year´s circuit as a result of the works on the Metroguagua in the Gran Canaria capital.

The organization has highlighted that they still need the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to approve the propose route. Once this requirement is fulfilled the RFEA will certify the Cajasiete Gran Canaria Marathon´s new, one lap layout for its three distances.

Expectations about the number of registrations are high. The organizing team has pointed out that the amount of runners signed up at this point is higher than those registered at the same point last year. So, they predict the number of runners taking part in this new edition of the Cajasiete Gran Canaria Marathon will grow in all distances.

The organization continues to work towards bringing this sports festival back to the Island on the 21st of January.
